PAST EVENT: Made in My Toun: Livingston

Fifty years on, does the concept of the ‘New Town’ deliver on its promises for everyone? Find out at this live cinema event from Made in My Toun.

Howden Park Centre, Howden, Livingston, EH54 6AE

Made in My Toun is a Scotland-wide tour of archive film screenings featuring special guests exploring what our towns and cities mean to us today.

On tour from Ayr to Aberdeen, Made in My Toun is part of the British Film Institute's Britain on Film project: making thousands of newly digitised film and TV titles from archives across the UK available to view online. Join curator Shona Thomson in celebrating the ‘touns’ that have changed the face of Scotland.

This live cinema event takes a fascinating look at how Livingston and Scotland's towns have been portrayed on the big screen since the early 1900s.

The programme connects the ambitions of Livingston Development Corporation in their corporate film of 1976 with community documentary ‘Livingston Lives’ made for the town’s 50th anniversary last year and the 2015 community-created film from the Knightsridge Adventure Project, exploring Livingston then and now.

The comparisons may surprise you.
