PAST EVENT: Become a Lerwick Urban Detective

A free interactive introduction to historical investigations for Lerwick's history lovers.

Wednesday, November 2, 2016 - 17:30 to 19:00

Adult Learning Huts, Lovers Loan, Lerwick, Shetland, ZE1 0BA

Urban Detectives are members of the public who research Scotland’s towns and cities, discovering hidden stories of everyday places and contributing their knowledge to the Historic Environment Scotland archive.

This free evening workshop on Wednesday 2 November for Shetland's history lovers will walk you through the steps of adding stories, facts and photos of Lerwick to the Historic Environment Scotland online archive, Canmore.

For the best experience, we recommend you bring something to contribute. This could be memories of a place, a digital photograph of the house you grew up in, or family history facts about places your grandparents worked.

Although the focus of the workshops will be on Lerwick, the skills developed will be useful for anyone with an interest in recording the local history of their area.

Suitable for heritage newcomers. Familiarity with the internet is required.

Due to limited capacity of the venue, booking in advance is essential.

Please note, a photographer may be present at Scotland's Urban Past events and the images may be used for promotional purposes.
