Borders Oral History Training with U3A

We're hosting a day of free oral history training in partnership with the Borders U3A local history group! All three sessions will be practical, and “hands on”.  To get the most from sessions A and B, it would be helpful if you’ve used a computer for basic tasks.  (Though the course will be adjusted to suit the knowledge and experience of participants so should be suitable even for those not confident of their IT skills!).

10.00 – 13.00    A:   Interactive Research Skills Workshop

13.45 – 14.30    B     Preserving digital files (also relevant to the oral-history workshop)

14.30 – 16.00    C:    Recording local people’s memories (ie “oral history”), includes techniques and use of equipment

The venue is the Cross Keys Pub, Northgate, Upper room.

We welcome you to one or more session(s).  Places are limited and the event will be open  to all – not just u3a members - so if you know anyone who might be interested, please let them know about it.

How to book your place

Email  Brian_whitnell@yahoo.co.uk with name, phone number, and which sessions you wish to attend; or sign up at Peebles library.

Fabulous 50s?
The training is being provided as part of a project called Fabulous 50’s? jointly hosted by Tweeddale Museum (Live Borders) and the U3A Local History Group, with the Civic Society.

Displays and other outcomes of the project will be presented from December 2017 to February 2018 at Tweeddale museum.
