Aberdeen’s Urban Past: add your stories to the national collection

Join Scotland’s Urban Past to learn how you can share research, stories, memories and photos of the places that matter to you.

This free, hands-on workshop, led by SUP staff, will introduce the Historic Environment Scotland online archive, Canmore, and a step-by-step guide on how you can contribute to it. The workshop will also explore building photography and managing your image files.


What to expect

  • tips on photographing buildings
  • outdoor photography exercise
  • an introduction to the National Record of the Historic Environment (Canmore) and other web research resources
  • guided, practical activity to add your photos to Canmore


What to bring

  • your camera or phone
  • cables for your camera/phone
  • your laptop or tablet (optional) 
  • your digital photos or other material to upload (optional)

 NB: DSLR cameras and laptops will be provided by SUP
