Over 400 young people in Paisley took part in the first Scotland's Urban Past photography competition, 'Your Paisley'. The competition encouraged school students to experiment with different techniques and show Paisley through the eyes of local young people, with training provided by the Scotland's Urban Past team.

Winners in the primary category are:

  • Winner - Callum Cook
  • Highly Commended - Grace Collins
  • Highly Commended - Adam Hammil
  • Commended - Paul Fletcher
  • Commended - Emily Millar
  • Commended Abstract - Mark Gallacher

Winners in the secondary category are:

  • Winner - Samuel McCann
  • Highly Commended - Charlie Henry
  • Commended - Andrea Graham

Scotland's Urban Past Learning Officer Victoria Robb said: “I had the privilege of working with many of the pupils who entered the competition. The enthusiasm and creativity shown by every single student who entered was inspiring, not to mention eye-opening! The 401 entries for the competition revealed a great deal about how young people in Paisley perceive their town and the places that mean the most to them.”

The young people attended an awards ceremony at Paisley Arts Centre in June, where they received their certificates and prizes, which included digital cameras and canvas prints of their entries.

The winners photos are also featured on our Facebook page.
